Magnificat At Christ University
It’s that time of the year again where all our homes, shops and roads are bright and colorful to celebrate the month of the birth of The Saviour, Christ and to commemorate this in their own small way; Christmas comes early for the Christ University of Bangalore through their musicale called ‘Magnificat’.
Christ University celebrates this event in the month of December every single year and was conducted on the 6th and 7th of December this year from 5 pm onwards and was open to anyone interested in the same.
Magnificat 2014 began with The Curtain Raiser whereby a choir consisting of about 200 students from the UG and PG backgrounds presented to the audience a marvelous medley of songs which were directed by their Music Instructor Mr. Jason Kishander. After this performance, numerous other groups, bands, and choirs performed songs that were all knitted to the Christmas theme of the event.
However, I would particularly like to throw light on the Christ University choir as it was the largest in terms of number and is not at all easy to be completely in sync with each other with such numbers but the CU choir made it look as easy as breathing; with their spot-on timing skills, their diverse levels of singing and their synchronization expertise.
The songs that the choir performed to were as follows;
Grace upon Grace by Mr.Sunil, Ex Choir composer of CU choir.
Let there be light, an acapella piece.
Let All the Angels of God Worship Him, A messiah piece by George Handle.
Magnify, the closing piece which also happens to be the anthem of Magnificat.
As I sat there and watched the choirs perform to their various pieces, all I could think of was how much joy and happiness this month seems to spread to everyone around us regardless of those celebrating or not.
It is a season of joy, a season of new beginnings, and a season of Hope and that is what Christ University seems to remind its audience every year in its own small way. It is also a message to all of us to carry forward this message of Christmas and spread Joy and Happiness in our own small ways which are ultimately the True Essence of Christmas.
Here is wishing each one of you reading, A Merry Christmas with heaps of Fun and Love and Happiness!
